01 / Profile

A new chapter

Learning to become the physician I hope to be.

I am a Registered Medical Technologist and currently a first-year medical student.

After completing my journey in medical technology, I decided to take another step toward my goal of becoming a physician. Starting medical school has been both exciting and challenging, but I see every experience as an opportunity to learn and grow.

This journal reflects my journey as I adjust to medical school, discover more about myself, and work toward the kind of doctor I hope to become.

“I chose this path because becoming a physician is something I truly want to pursue.”

Where It All Begins01

We were introduced to biochemistry and discussed the basics of water and pH. The lecture helped me understand how these fundamental concepts are connected to the proper functioning of the human body.

A Test of What I Have Learned02

We had two quizzes about water and pH, followed by our Communication Skills activity on the art of questioning. We also discussed amino acids and peptides, which I found overwhelming because there were so many amino acids and structures that I needed to familiarize myself with.

The Art of Questioning03

We continued with Communication Skills through a formative evaluation on the art of questioning, where we practiced how to ask appropriate questions during a consultation. We also discussed the higher-order structure of proteins, which was challenging while I was still learning how amino acids form different protein structures.

Labster Orientation04

We were introduced to Labster and learned how virtual laboratory simulations can support our learning. It gave me a better understanding of how technology can make laboratory activities more interactive and engaging.

Room for Improvement05

The assessment was challenging, and I did not get the score I had hoped for. Still, it helped me see which areas I needed to work on and encouraged me to study more consistently and understand the lessons better.

Better Than Before06

I was happy to see a better score in this assessment compared with my previous performance. It reminded me that consistent effort, learning from mistakes, and improving my study habits can lead to progress.

Learning Continued07

Even though our classes were suspended, Doc A still took the time to prepare a review session for us. I am genuinely grateful for the time, effort, and patience given to make sure we could continue learning. Sometimes, the people who take the extra step to help us are the ones who make the biggest difference.

A Moment of Faith08

I found the examination very difficult and had already accepted that I might fail. Finding out that I passed was a beautiful surprise and a reminder that Allah's plans can be greater than our fears. Alhamdulillah, this experience taught me never to lose hope, even when I feel I have reached my limit.

From Biochemistry to Medicine09

Biochemistry first felt like a collection of terms, structures, and processes to memorize. Through water, pH, amino acids, proteins, hemoglobin, myoglobin, and enzymes, I slowly realized that these concepts are part of what makes the human body work. Understanding them will help me make sense of disease, laboratory results, and treatment as I continue in medicine.

Prelim reflection

Struggle can still be a season of growth.

Looking back on the prelim period, I realize that it was a season of both struggle and growth. Not every quiz went well, some lessons took more time to understand, and class suspensions sometimes disrupted my routine.

Although these moments were discouraging, they taught me to be more patient with myself and to learn from my mistakes. Setbacks are not failures, but part of the process of becoming better.

As I move forward, I hope to be more consistent, prepared, and confident in my studies while continuing to learn and grow from every experience.
